Jesus shared the Gospel through story, so we share and listen to stories—to every story
YFC is a Christian movement that began in 1944 when Billy Graham and Torrey Johnson held a Youth For Christ rally in Chicago. There are now over 140 chapters across the country.
YFC Southwest Michigan, our local chapter, was established by Ken & Karen Mills in 1986.
YFC pursues young people who often feel overlooked, to build relationships at pivotal moments.
YFC partners with local church and like-minded organizations to reach young people.
We believe the Gospel comes to life in the overlap of God’s story, our story, and a young person's story.
Pivotal Moments
Experiencing the changes of a new school, facing difficulties from social media, walking through family conflicts, struggling through anxiety and depression, questioning their identity, becoming a teen parent, overcoming an addiction —11-19 year olds face some of the most pivotal moments of their lives; moments that can shape their entire story.
Shaping Our Story
We know how a pivotal moment can shape a story, because we’ve been through them ourselves. We also know that young people experiencing pivotal moments often feel over-looked and under-served, walking through their story without someone in their corner. It is our passion to make them feel seen, heard, and valued.
Unwavering Commitment
Since 1986, we’ve had an unwavering commitment to meet 11-19 year olds in pivotal moments, and to introduce them to the hope of Christ. With the help of many volunteer hours, cookies made, and miles traveled, students in Southwest Michigan have discovered the hope of Jesus. YFC empowers community leaders to build meaningful relationships with young people everywhere—it’s our aim to walk with young people through their story, and to be the friend and mentor that we’ve longed for ourselves.
Uncovering God’s Story of Hope
When we welcome God into a pivotal moment, we invite Him to uncover His story of Hope in our lives, and to give life to our story. He is the life in all of our stories.
